About this speaker
Cornelia Lockitch (M.Ed.) is the founder of Literacy Mosaic, which offers tutoring and reading clubs to individuals and small groups in South Orange County, California. With decades of experience in education, Cornelia is an AMI-Montessori primary and elementary trained teacher as well as a reading interventionist certified in EBLI.
She has taught students of all skill levels to read using speech-first methods both in Montessori and traditional settings. She has been a private teacher to families looking for intensive remediation for their elementary-aged children, much of it focused on literacy (Phono-Graphix, grammar, writing, and literature circles). Cornelia has supported numerous schools to deepen their Montessori practices through teacher mentoring and program support.
Most recently, her work as a founding member of Higher Ground Education, a start-up dedicated to mainstreaming Montessori, included project management of new school prepared environments and designing curriculum materials for online and at-home use. Drawing on this diverse background and science of reading-aligned EBLI training, Cornelia works with families and independent schools to transform students' experience of reading and writing to one of confidence and joy.
